Police not investigating my brother's case properly: Dr Kafeel Khan

Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 1 (ANI): Suspended paediatrician of Gorakhpur's BRD Medical College Dr Kafeel Khan alleged that the police were not investigating the shooting incident of his brother properly.

Kashif Jameel, younger brother of Dr Kafeel Khan, was shot by some unidentified miscreants near JP Hospital in Gorakhpur early this month.

Khan said the police are not investigating the case as they are refraining from interrogating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Kamlesh Paswan and Satish Nangalia.

He had earlier accused the BJP leaders of having a role behind the attack on his brother. He even urged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and a High Court judge to initiate a probe into the incident.

"People who aren't involved in the case, are being caught by the police. But my objection is that why BJP MP Kamlesh Paswan and Satish Nagaria - whom my brother suspects - aren't being questioned or sent to jail? Police is not investigating the matter properly," the doctor told ANI.

Khan had earlier refused an investigation by the state police into the case, claiming that they too were involved.

He alleged that both Paswan and Nangalia had encroached upon a piece of land which belonged to his uncle. An FIR was lodged against the two, but they managed to seek a stay order by the High Court.

He further alleged laxity by the state police as he pointed out that no arrests were made in the incident since it took place. (ANI)
