Lalu, Mishra sentenced to 5-yr-jail term in another Fodder scam case
Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], Jan. 24 (ANI): In connection with another fodder scam case, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad and former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra were sentenced to five-year imprisonment by a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Ranchi on Wednesday.
The two convicts have also been fined Rs. 5 lakh.
Special CBI court judge S.S. Prasad pronounced the quantum of sentence in the case, which pertains to the embezzlement of Rs 33.67 crore from Chaibasa district treasury during 1992-93.
Former Bihar CM Jagannath Mishra, acquitted in one of the fodder scam cases in December last year, was pronounced guilty in this matter.
Lalu is currently lodged in the Birsa Munda Jail in Ranchi after being convicted for 3.5 years on December 23, 2017. The case pertained to the fraudulent withdrawal of funds from Deoghar treasury.
The Chaibasa Treasury case is the third case in the fodder scam in which Lalu Prasad has been found guilty. (ANI)
