Koraput gang-rape: Congress calls for bandh

Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) [India], January 24 (ANI): The Congress on Wednesday called for a state-wide Bandh to protest against the suicide of an alleged gang-rape victim in Kunduli village of Odisha's Koraput district.

The Congress workers also blocked railway tracks at Bhubaneswar railway station.

A class IX girl committed suicide on Monday after being allegedly gang-raped by four security personnel in Koraput district in October last year.

The incident triggered a massive outrage across the state.

In November last year, the girl attempted to kill herself, after which Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a judicial probe into the incident. (ANI)
