Foetus found in Air Asia flight lavatory

New Delhi [India], July 25 (ANI): A newborn infant was found "lifeless and abandoned" onboard an Imphal-Guwahati-New Delhi AirAsia flight on Wednesday.

The infant was found in one of the plane's lavatories when the aircraft number I5-784 was being prepared for landing," read a statement from the airline.

"Delhi Police were alerted and a doctor from the medical team at Delhi International Airport confirmed that the baby had been delivered onboard," the statement added.

It further stated that a suspect has been held back by the police for further investigation.

The suspect was identified on questioning of all female passengers onboard.

"The matter has been reported to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the airline's staff are attending to other guests and cooperating with Delhi Police," Air Asia said.

The airline also apologised to all guests experiencing disruptions in their flight schedule. (ANI)
