Fighting corruption was never Congress's agenda: Jaitley

New Delhi [India], Sept. 25 (ANI): Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday hit out at Opposition, and said that combating corruption was never Congress's agenda.

Jaitley while addressing the media after attending the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Executive meeting said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the meeting has made it very clear that his battle against corruption is un-compromised and whomsoever will be held guilty will not be spared.

"Step against black money and corruption was never on UPA's agenda, so naturally if we take any step they will be uneasy about it," Jaitley said.

"The Prime Minster said sometimes Opposition uses harsh words when there is no specific allegation; harsh language can't be substitute for substantive charge," he added.

Further stressing on the issue Jaitley said the Prime Minster asserted that Opposition consider power just as a mean of rejoice and added that in reality power is not for pleasure, it is to do service.

He also said that the Prime Minster emphasized on taking BJP beyond elections and make it instrument of mass participation. (ANI)
