Delhi water-logging: Court seeks report in ten days
New Delhi [India], July 16 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday took suo moto cognisance of the water-logging problem in the national capital and issued a notice to the civic bodies, Delhi Jal Board and the Union Ministry of Urban Development.
The court further directed the Chief Secretary of the Delhi government, Anshu Prakash, to convene a meeting in this regard and file a report within ten days.
The High Court also sought a response from the Public Works Department (PWD) and the government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT).
The Jal Board will be filing a separate affidavit explaining the manner in which drainage of rainwater takes place and what system is in place for the same.
The court pulled up the authorities while making a reference to the incident of a bus getting stuck on a water-logged road under Minto Bridge after heavy rains lashed several parts of the national capital region (NCR) on Monday.
The matter will be next heard on July 26. (ANI)
