Cong MLA demands reservation for Muslims

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 27 (ANI): Amidst Maratha quota stir, Congress MLA from Maharashtra Amin Patel on Friday demanded reservation for the Muslim community.

Speaking to ANI, Patel said that Muslims are socially and economically backward and hence "they should get a reservation".

"Along with Maratha and Dhangar Samaj, we want the reservation for Muslims too. Muslims are socially and economically backward and fall under Special Backward Category-A, Muslim Reservation (SBCA)," Patel said.

The MLA's statement comes at a time when the members of Maratha community have been protesting across Maharashtra demanding reservation in government jobs and education.

Besides reservation, loan waiver, and unemployment are some of the other issues against which the community is protesting. (ANI)
