Rajnath Singh, Jaishankar To Host US Counterparts For 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue On Nov 10

The 2+2 Ministerial dialogue between India and the US will facilitate a comprehensive and high-level review of technology, defence and security cooperation between the two nations.

In a significant diplomatic development, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar are set to host US Secretary of State Antony J Blinken and Secretary of Defence Lloyd J Austin III for the highly anticipated fifth India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue in New Delhi on November 10, 2023.

According to a statement by the Ministry of External Affairs, the 2+2 format is poised to facilitate a comprehensive and high-level review of the various aspects of defence and security cooperation between the two nations. Additionally, the dialogue will encompass discussions on technology value chain collaborations and the enhancement of people-to-people ties.

This strategic meeting provides an opportune moment for the ministers to propel the roadmap for the India-US partnership, aligning with the goals outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden during their discussions in June and September earlier this year.

Beyond the bilateral discussions, the ministers will jointly assess contemporary regional issues, fostering an exchange of perspectives on shared priorities for bolstering cooperation in multilateral platforms and frameworks, such as the Quad Alliance.

Further adding to the diplomatic agenda, both Raksha Mantri and the Minister of External Affairs are slated to engage in crucial bilateral meetings with their respective US counterparts. These meetings not only signify a continuation of the Ministerial Dialogue but also serve to reaffirm the steadfast commitment to the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic partnership.

Earlier, the US Department of State said in a statement: "Secretary of State Antony J Blinken will travel to Tel Aviv, Israel; Amman, Jordan; Tokyo, Japan; Seoul, the Republic of Korea (ROK); and New Delhi, India November 2-10, 2023."

The Fifth India-US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue emerges as a pivotal juncture for both nations to strengthen ties, address shared concerns, and chart the course for an even more robust collaboration in the future.
