'Great Success For India's G20 Presidency': Top Leaders On Adoption Of Delhi Declaration At G20 Summit

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant described India's G20 presidency as "historic and pathbreaking," adding that it "delivered phenomenal action on high ambitions for the world."

Following the adoption of a declaration by G20 leaders at their summit meeting on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that history has been created and thanked members of the bloc for their support and collaboration. Highlighting the success of Delhi Leaders' Summit Declaration, PM Modi on X stated: "History has been created with the adoption of the New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration. United in consensus and spirit, we pledge to work collaboratively for a better, more prosperous, and harmonious future. My gratitude to all fellow G20 members for their support and cooperation."

G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant described India's G20 presidency as "historic and pathbreaking," adding that it "delivered phenomenal action on high ambitions for the world."  “The new geopolitical paras are a powerful call for Planet, People, Peace, and Prosperity in todays world," he said. 

Taking to X, Kant stated: “With 83 paras and absolutely no dissent, no footnotes, no chair summaries - the #NewDelhiLeadersDeclaration symbolises unparalleled global consensus."

Speaking on Delhi's Declaration France Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire stated: "There is a consensus and it is a great success for India's G 20 Presidency."

"I think it is very good that we came to a final conclusion," said Netherlands Prime Minister Mark Rutte.

Speaking with media about Delhi G20 Leaders' Summit Declaration consensus, Former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations, Asoke Kumar Mukerji stated: "This is an indicator of the role of India, of our prime minister in achieving consensus on the issues that affect all of the mankind and that have a direct impact on human beings all over the world. As the prime minister said repeatedly, we are in favour of a human-centric approach which puts people before other issues... The declaration shows that this is indeed the vision that has prevailed through the presidency of India in all the sections of the declaration including the section on Ukraine... The outcome is an indicator that the biggest change that has happened in the G 20 is that it has become much more inclusive with the addition of the African Union as the 21st member... Automatically, 54 countries of Africa who are all of the Global South, have become members of the G 20."

During a press briefing, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar stated that the Declaration focuses on achieving robust, sustainable, balanced, and inclusive growth.

“The declaration seeks to accelerate progress on SDGs and has come up with an action plan accordingly. It envisages a green development pact for a sustainable future, it endorses high-level principles on lifestyle for sustainable development, voluntary principles of hydrogen, the Chennai principles for a sustainable resilient blue economy, and the Deccan principles on food security and nutrition among others,” Jaishankar said.

Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Finance Minister, commended the G20 member states for their "cooperation and support" for the New Delhi Leaders' Declaration. The minister praised Prime Minister Modi's leadership, stating his "human-centric approach to global development had resonated strongly with the international community."
