'Unlike BJP, Congress Gives Ticket To Those Who Can Win', Pilot On Fielding Muslim Candidates In Election

Ideas Of India 2025: Congress leader Sachin Pilot criticized BJP's policy decision of not giving tickets to Muslims and said that parties should give tickets to those who can win.

Ideas Of India 2025: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Saturday was one of the speakers at ABP's Ideas of India Summit. In the session, the former deputy chief minister of Rajasthan talked on various political developments in the country.

While answering a question on Congress, SP and TMC, the INDIA bloc members, have given tickets to fewer Muslim leaders in last year's Lok Sabha election compared to the previous elections due to BJP's Hindutva politics, he said that it is unfortunate to say that people have to count how many Muslim candidates there are in the fray, and added that poliical parties should give tickets to those who can win.

Taking a dig at BJP, Sachin Pilot said, "BJP has taken a policy decision that they will not give tickets to a particular community. However, we give tickets to those who are hardworking and Congressmen, they should be the ones who can win. But whether BJP wins or loses, it is their decision not to give tickets to Muslims.

Speaking at the summit, the MLA from Tonk constituency said "Our country has had different types of rulers, the British also came, but India's unity and sovereignty remained intact, we are proud Indians wherever we are from." He added, "BJP was born in 1984, eight years after I was born. No party, leader or slogan, one person can define the country. The idea of India is bigger than all these. Our country is bigger than any one ideology or political party."

Pilot, who is also AICC general secretary-in charge of Chhattisgarh, voiced the concern that issue-based politics has taken a backseat, as the Centre is focusing on winning elections through cyclical templates rather than addressing pressing matters.
