India's Covid Tally Crosses 58-Lakh Mark After Record Testing Of 14 Lakhs In A Day, Recovery Rate At 81.74%
India currently has 9,70,116 active cases while 47,56,165 people have recovered after getting infected. The country's death toll has now gone up to 92,290, according to the latest data on the health ministry.
Coronavirus in India: India's Covid-19 case tally crosses the 58-lakh mark with a spike of 86,052 new cases and 1,141 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total case tally stands at 58,18,571 including 9,70,116 active cases, 47,56,165 cured/discharged/migrated and 92,290 deaths according to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

On the brighter side, active cases in India are falling rapidly and the number of daily recoveries has exceeded the number of cases that are being registered, indicating that the country’s recovery rate is rising rapidly. India’s fatality rate is also one of the lowest in the world, the health ministry said earlier.
75% on new cases in India concentrated in 10 states, UTs: Health ministry
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare on Friday said 75 percent of the new coronavirus cases in India are concentrated in 10 states and UTs. It also said that 10 states and UTs are reporting 74 percent of new recoveries. The health ministry said on Twitter that Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka are among states reporting a higher number of recoveries and new Covid-19 cases.
The number of containment zones in Delhi has surged past 2,000, even as Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday said Delhi has gone past the peak of its second wave of COVID-19 infection. The CM said the recent surge in COVID-19 cases was due to the massive scaling up of testing from 20,000 tests per day previously to 60,000 tests every day at present.
Kerala, which was once feted for its effective containment measures, has been amongst the big trouble spots in the last few weeks. The state reported 6,324 new cases - the highest daily cases in the state so far – on Thursday. A day earlier, it had reported 5,376 cases, crossing the 5,000-mark for the first time. The state now has more than 1.54 lakh confirmed cases, of which nearly 46,000 are active.
India conducts nearly 14 lakh tests in 24 hours, says health ministry
The health ministry on Friday said India has managed to conduct 13.80 lakh tests in the past 24 hours -- the highest tests conducted in a single day so far. "India climbs another historic peak of more than 13 lakh tests.
