Health Ministry Assures "India's Recovery Rate Improving, Fatality Rate Declining"
Union Health Ministry said that death rate in India is declining due to "continued focus on surveillance, timely case identification and clinical management of the cases."
Though India approaches the 2,00,000 mark in the number of coronavirus cases, Health Ministry of India on Monday said that recovery rate has been improving and stands at 48.19 per cent now, whereas the rate of fatality has seen a steady decline to reach 2.83 per cent.
The Health Ministry said that at present, there are nearly 93,322 active cases under the active medical supervision while 91,818 patients have been recovered and discharged from the hospital. Of these, at least 4,835 patients cured in the last 24 hours itself, Union ministry said.
"The recovery rate in the country is progressively increasing and has reached 48.19 per cent amongst Covid-19 patients. On May 18, it was 38.29 per cent, on May 3, it was 26.59 per cent and on April 15, it was 11.42 per cent," it added.
Briefing over the fatality situation in the country, ministry assured that death rate in India is declining, and the credit goes to "continued focus on surveillance, timely case identification and clinical management of the cases."
"A steady decline can be seen in the case fatality rate in the country. The relatively low death rate is attributed to the continued focus on surveillance, timely case identification and clinical management of the cases. Two specific trends are thus noticed, while the recovery rate is increasing on one hand, case fatality is going down on the other," it said.
Mentioning of the current testing capacity of the country, the health ministry said that the testing capacity has increased in the country through 472 government and 204 private laboratories, pushing the tally to 676 laboratories.
"Cumulatively, 38,37,207 samples have been tested so far for COVID 19, whereas, 1,00,180 samples were tested in last 24 hours."
