The Health Department is now under high alert to contain the coronavirus spread among school-going students. Schools for classes 9 to 12 were reopened in Haryana a few days ago after remaining closed for nearly seven months due to the coronavirus pandemic. Besides Jind, Rewari has also witnessed a shocking outbreak among students. 72 Students Tested Positive in Rewari 72 out of the 837 students in 12 government schools in the Rewari district, including the Government Senior Secondary School in Kund were tested Coronavirus positive in school. Following this, the administration has decided to close down the schools. Schools with less number of Covid cases have been closed for three to four days while schools with higher numbers are shut for 14 days. All the infected students are residents of Padla, a nearby village in Kund. Their families are also being tested while the village is being sanitized. Nodal officer Dr. Vijay Prakash informed that people are being educated about Coronavirus prevention, however, people continue to be negligent. He has appealed to the people to follow the necessary norms.
"Due to the festive season, there is movement & people are meeting each other so we tested students of 12 schools. We will continue testing students to curb Covid-19 spread," says the Nodal Officer.
Meanwhile, at the Kund Government School, in the Khol area of Rewari, 19 out of 33 students were found to be Covid-19 positive, the school has been closed for three days and sanitized.
Clearly, despite frequent testing, the negligence in following Coronavirus precautions have led to this deeply worrying state with school students being infected. How this issue unfolds and is tackled remains to be seen.
