Coronavirus in New Delhi: The Covid-19 situation in the national capital Delhi has exacerbated and has shattered all record amid poor AQI and ahead of the festive season, as the city witnessed as many as 7,745 new cases, and an all-time high positivity rate of 15.26 per cent on Sunday. Fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours were 77. This is Delhi’s third wave of Coronavirus as termed by Chief Minister Kejriwal, as is quite clearly the worst wave as it broke the highest ever single-day tally ever since the outbreak of the pandemic. The overall tally has reached 4,38,529 while the cumulative toll stood at 6,989. The number of containment zones in Delhi increased from 3,857 on Saturday to 3,878 on Sunday. As per a report in news agency IANS, the infection rate (15.26 per cent) has been at its highest with 50,754 Covid-19 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. It roughly translates into every sixth test sample turning out to be positive. In total, 50,99,774 tests have been conducted so far. Earlier on Sunday, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the national capital has hit the peak of the third wave of COVID-19 and the number of cases suggests it has been the worst so far. Meanwhile, the national capital continues to reel under pollution. On Monday morning, Air Quality Index (AQI) is at 484 in Anand Vihar, 470 in Mundka, 465 Okhla Phase 2 and 468 in Wazirpur, all in 'severe category', as per Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
