Covid-19 Vaccine Update: Opposition Leaders Demand Free Vaccine For Everyone In India; Know More

Opposition leaders have demanded that the coronavirus vaccine should be made free for the public in India.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi had chaired an all-party meet on Friday and made key announcements about Coronavirus Vaccine. PM Modi said that nearly eight vaccines are at different stages of trial with their manufacturing assured in India and once the scientists give a green signal it will be released in a few weeks. NowtThe opposition has stepped up their demand for a free coronavirus vaccine in India. Several leaders from opposition parties have raised questions on the pricing of the Covid-19 vaccine and have said that it should be given free to people in India. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has raised the issue several times in his tweets. Even before the meeting yesterday Gandhi had questioned if the PM will discuss free vaccine.

Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav also expressed doubts over the government’s intention referring to the BJP’s announcement for free Covid vaccine during the Bihar assembly election campaign. “ If BJP has announced It then you can be sure it will be a ‘jumla’," said Yadav. Shiv Sena leader Vinayak Raut has also demanded free a vaccine for Indians. In the all-party meeting, PM Modi also said that the teams of Central and state governments are working together for vaccine distribution. Modi also said that it is yet to be decided on who will get the Covid vaccine in the first phase, but frontline workers are likely to be given priority. Regarding pricing, he said that it will be determined after discussion with states. Countries such as Japan, America, France, Norway, and even Pakistan are working on free distribution of coronavirus vaccine for its citizens once it becomes available.
