Here's How Government Plans To Deliver Coronavirus Vaccine With IT-Backed System
India is currently working on 4 coronavirus vaccine candidates, two of them are indigenously developed and are in different stages of clinical testing.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month stressed upon quick and easy access of Coronavirus Vaccine to each citizen once fully developed. In review meeting last week, PM said "We should make use of experience of successful conduct of elections and disaster management in the country," and also stressed on advanced planning of cold storage chains, distribution network, monitoring mechanism, advance assessment, and preparation of ancillary equipment.

On the lines of IT-backed system for the delivery of the vaccine to the last mile, the administration, States and experts are reportedly planning to include several digital features like SMS and digital certificate in the delivery process of the vaccines.
According to the reports, the central government has set up a National Expert Committee on Vaccine Administration which is responsible for laying out a detailed plan of vaccine storage and delivery.
As per the preparations are considered, much like the elections, the vaccination drive will be conducted in phases. School will be turned as booths to gather citizens and administer vaccine doses.
If reports are to be believed, the first phase of the vaccination drive will focus on vaccinating about 30 million people, including 7 million doctors and paramedics, in addition to 20 million other frontline health workers.

The Zydus Cadila ZyCovD and ICMR-Bharat Biotech’s COVAXIN are in the second stage of clinical testing, and the results are awaited in early November.
