While chairing a review meeting regarding the surge in the Dengue cases, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made the announcement.

New Delhi: Amidst the spike in Dengue cases in the national capital, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday announced that on-ground initiatives like hotspot identification, fogging, and timely treatment of the disease will be carried out to curb the Dengue cases.

While chairing a review meeting regarding the surge in the Dengue cases, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya made the announcement.

Union Health Ministry is monitoring Dengue cases in Delhi and other States closely. An expert team will do detailed planning with the Delhi Government to monitor the dengue cases, awareness campaigns will also be run in schools. Necessary speed testing will be conducted, sources informed ANI.

Mansukh Mandaviya also stressed active coordination between the Centre and states. He further said that many poor people are not diagnosed properly and their death goes unreported, hence testing for dengue needs to be ramped up.

Delhi has reported more than 1,000 cases of dengue this year, with 531 news cases logged in the last week, according to South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC). As many as 6 people have succumbed to the disease this year, ANI reported.

As per the trend, Delhi witnesses the outbreak of the Dengue virus at the onset of the monsoon every year, which ends as the Winter season arrives. However, this year, the national capital is witnessing a surge in the Dengue cases which is still ongoing.
