After Maharashtra, Punjab Reports Spike In New Covid-19 Cases; Here Are 5 States Displaying Worrying Upsurge
The central government informed on Saturday that currently, 5 states are seeing a spike in Coronavirus cases reported daily.

The central government informed on Saturday that currently, 5 states are seeing a spike in Coronavirus cases reported daily. These are Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
"In the past week, Maharashtra has exhibited a spike in the number of daily new cases, accounting for the highest number of daily new cases in the country today. In last 24 hours, 6,112 daily new case has been reported in the state," the union government's statement read.
"Similar to Maharashtra, Punjab has also shown a sudden spike in the number of daily new cases reported in last 7 days with 383 daily new cases in last 24 hours," it added.
In the last seven days, Chhattisgarh has also seen a rise in daily active new cases. 259 daily new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, the statement informed.
Meanwhile, Kerala also continues to report a high number of daily new cases with 4,505 fresh ones reported in the last 24 hours.
The union government has strongly emphasised the importance of adhering to Covid-19 appropriate behavior for breaking the chain of transmission of the virus and containment of the spread of the disease.
In a positive development, the ministry informed that 18 states/UTs have not reported any Coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours. These are Telangana, Haryana, J&K (UT), Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Tripura, Assam, Chandigarh, Lakshadweep, Manipur, Meghalaya, Ladakh (UT), Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.
