The Witcher 4 Won't Portray Geralt Of Rivia As The Protagonist? Here's What Geralt's Voice Actor Said

Doug Cockle, the voice behind Geralt of Rivia, in a new interview said that our beloved silver-haired monster hunter won't be the protagonist in Witcher 4.

The Witcher franchise has made a special place for itself in the gaming community, with players loving the game so much that it ends up becoming their favourite. After completing three seasons of the game, gamers are now waiting eagerly for the fourth sequel of the franchise to hit the market. However, the hardcore fans of Geralt of Rivia might be a bit disappointed this time. Codenamed Polaris, The Witcher franchise's fourth game will be the first in a new Witcher trilogy. The upcoming game will feature Geralt of Rivia but not as the protagonist though.

The actor who is the voice behind Geralt in the game, Doug Cockle, has said that the titular Witcher will not be in a central role in the upcoming game.

Here's the trailer to Witcher 3 to show what quality can you expect from the makers.

The Witcher 4: What We Know So Far

Cockle in a new interview said that our beloved silver-haired monster hunter won't be the protagonist in Witcher 4. He said, “The Witcher 4 has been announced. I can't say anything about it. What we know is that Geralt will be part of the game, we just don't know how much. And the game won't focus on Geralt, so it's not about him this time.”

He refrained from revealing any further details on the protagonist. He said, “We don't know who it's about, I'm excited to find out!”

Cockle said that he had not seen the script for the next game in the series yet.

CD Projekt Red announced the beginning of development of the Witcher 4 back in March 2022. The studio did not give out a release window, though. However, it has confirmed that it is partnering with Epic Games to develop The Witcher 4 in Unreal Engine 5.

Later that year, the studio shared additional information about the future of The Witcher series, revealing plans for a new trilogy under the project name 'Polaris,' a remake of the original Witcher game using Unreal Engine 5, codenamed 'Canis Majoris,' and a multiplayer Witcher game referred to as 'Sirius.' CD Projekt Red has not yet provided a release schedule for these upcoming Witcher projects. Additionally, the studio confirmed that a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is also in development.
