BGMI Crosses 100 Million Registered Users In Less Than A Year: 5 Reasons Why You Should Play The Battle Royale

A supportive community and compatibility with most phones make BGMI a great battle royale to check out.

Battlegrounds Mobile India, the popular mobile battle royale commonly known as BGMI, has crossed 100 million registered users, developer Krafton confirmed. For those unaware, BGMI is a rebranded version of PUBG Mobile, which was banned by the Centre along with 117 other Chinese apps in 2020. South Korea-based Krafton eventually relaunched the game as Battlegrounds Mobile India in July 2021. In less than a year of its release, BGMI has grown into one of the most popular battle royales in India, making the rounds at several eSports tournaments as well.

Krafton CEO Changhan Kim said during his visit to India to celebrate BGMI’s first anniversary, “BGMI’s first year has been a resounding success with millions of players joining to experience the game. We have brought in major tournaments, Indian-themed collaborations, and celebrated India-centric events with the community with a goal in curating a gameplay unique to our Indian users.”

“India is an important market for Krafton. We are positive about the opportunities in the country and are committed to create a robust gaming ecosystem. Our focus is pivoted towards constantly elevating the mobile gaming experience for our growing community and invest in the flourishing start-up landscape here,” he added.

If you haven’t played BGMI yet, here are 5 reasons you should check it out:

Large, supportive community

Battle royales just aren’t any fun if there aren’t gamers to play with. With over 100 million registered users now, the BGMI community is now stronger than ever. That means lesser waiting time for a game to launch and more players to engage with during battles. Also, whoever has been gaming for a few years now knows how toxic online communities can be especially when you are playing battle royales. The BGMI community is surprisingly supportive. Sure, there will be many users who won’t bat an eyelid before taking you out with a headshot. However, more often than not, you will come across genuinely helpful people who don’t mind showing a trick or two to newbies.

Sanctions against cheaters

Krafton regularly bans accounts that are found cheating to gain an advantage over other players. Such accounts get flagged for downloading the game from unofficial sources, or for using illegal programs on their devices. To better their gameplay, players can unfairly use modified files or banned scripts to easily defeat unsuspecting users. However, Krafton also lets users flag such instances of cheating from within the app itself.

Regular, fun updates

Live service games work best when they are updated regularly, and perhaps more importantly, updated with fun, engaging elements. From vibrant weapon skins to exciting vehicles and from vast new maps to jaw-dropping crossovers, BGMI makes sure users always have something exciting to return to each time they launch the game.

Smooth gameplay that encourages you to keep on playing

Krafton has made sure that BGMI plays lag-free on most devices. The game is pretty easy to learn, and all you need to do to “git gud” is keep on playing to hone your skills. As you play more and more, you can feel you are getting better and actually see the difference in your gameplay — much like how top-tier multiplayer titles such as FIFA or Fortnite work.

Lag-free performance on most mobile phones

BGMI only needs 2GB of RAM to operate smoothly and if you have at least 3GB RAM on your phone, you can rest assured that you will get the best-possible lag-free experience. Nowadays, most leading phone brands offer at least 4GB of RAM (without burning a hole in your pocket). The best part is, BGMI gets better on more powerful phones. So, no matter which phone you game on — be it a budget-friendly device or a top-tier gaming phone — you can be sure BGMI will perform well without a hitch.
