Big B Enters The Gaming Arena: Amitabh Bachchan Joins Forces With Amish Tripathi, Ubisoft Vet For THIS Game

Bachchan will now have yet another (gaming) feather on his cap as a co-founder of Tara Gaming.

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has stepped into the gaming industry, announcing his role as co-founder of Tara Gaming, a new studio led by bestselling author Amish Tripathi and game industry veteran Nouredine Abboud. The company made its presence felt on May 1 with the unveiling of The Age of Bhaarat, a AAA action-adventure game franchise that reimagines the grandeur of ancient India for PC and consoles.

The cinematic trailer, revealed at the launch, teased majestic landscapes, mythical creatures, and epic warriors — all woven into a richly layered narrative inspired by Indian mythology and culture.

'A lifelong commitment to storytelling'

For Bachchan, this isn’t just a business move — it’s an extension of his passion for narratives that matter. "Joining Tara Gaming is an extension of my lifelong commitment to storytelling. When I heard Amish’s and Nouredine’s vision, I was instantly drawn to the potential of creating something truly monumental," the actor said.

Known for his iconic roles that have shaped Indian cinema for decades, Bachchan now hopes to shape digital storytelling with the same gravitas.
"India has always been a land of powerful stories, and through this game, we have an opportunity to share our epics, creativity, and imagination with the world. Gaming is where stories come alive for the next generation, and I’m excited to help shape that experience at Tara Gaming with a uniquely Indian lens,” he added.

A global vision, rooted in Indian heritage

Tara Gaming’s vision is ambitious: to place Indian storytelling at the heart of globally competitive, high-production-value gaming.

"The trailer is just a glimpse of this ambitious and immersive world that pays homage to Indian traditions while delivering cinematic-quality gameplay," said Abboud, who previously worked on acclaimed titles like Ghost Recon Wildlands and Driver.

"The Age of Bhaarat has always been a passion project for us at Tara Gaming, and with Mr. Bachchan onboard, our conviction has only grown stronger.”

Tripathi, renowned for his mythological fiction, echoed similar sentiments.

"(Bachchan) is a true visionary whose understanding of Indian heritage is unmatched, and his belief in our vision adds immense strength to our journey. He brings a sense of legacy and inspiration to the project that’s impossible to quantify," he said.

A booming gaming market, ripe for original IP

The launch of The Age of Bhaarat is well-timed. India’s gaming industry is evolving fast, with players seeking richer, more immersive experiences. According to Niko Partners, India is currently the fastest-growing gaming market in Asia, both in terms of user base and revenue. The PC and console segment alone is projected to cross $1 billion in revenue by 2025, hitting $1.4 billion by 2028.

As local developers gain confidence and audiences grow more sophisticated, the need for homegrown, culturally rooted AAA titles is stronger than ever. Tara Gaming seems poised to fill that gap — with an unmistakable Indian flair, and now, a legendary voice behind it.
