Avinash Tiwary On Being Cast As A Gangster From Marginalized Caste In Khakee: The Bihar Chapter: 'Aagey Behtar Koshish Karoonga'

In the Netflix series, Karan Tacker portrays the role of the upright officer Amit Lodha while Avinash Tiwary plays the role of a gangster, Chandan mahto.

New Delhi: Avinash Tiwary who starred in 'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter' recently created a storm on Twitter after responding to a man who questioned the choice of role which the actor took on the Netflix show. Recently, a parody social media page with the name ‘Dr Nimo Yadav’ tweeted, “In Khakee the Bihar chapter, main villain is Chandan mahto, he comes from scheduled caste. But his role was played by Avinash Tiwary a Brahmin SC character should be played by SC actor only, this injustice must stop in cinema, it is eating opportunities from marginalised castes.”

Soon after this tweet went viral, many came out to support the page on the issue of representation. Avinash Tripathy responded to the man by stating that he's all in for 'equality of opportunities’, but he will not give up his own hard-earned opportunity for it.

"Ye inclusivity ke naam pe basic job description bhool jaate hain kya? Sir Actor ka kaam hai vibhinn tarah ke kirdaar( Beyond race, caste, religion, class, age, gender) karna. i am all for equality of opportunities but not by giving up my own hard earned opportunity for it,” he tweeted.he tweeted.

The actor further added that it was unfortunate as the person could not see his talent or skill but just his surname. “Unfortunate ki mere kaam mein aapko talent aur skill se jyaada mera last name dikha…Aagey behtar koshish karoonga.”

'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter' is based on a chapter in IPS Amit Lodha's life, which he wrote about in his book 'The Bihar Diaries'. The best-selling book chronicled a police-officer's stint in one of Bihar's crime dominated villages and how he managed to outdo the state's most feared ganglords.
