Tum Bin Actor Himanshu Malik Discloses That He Was Asked To Have An Affair For Publicity

New Delhi: Himanshu Malik's performance in the movie ‘Tum Bin’ in 2001 was largely responsible for his meteoric rise to fame. In the romance movie directed by Anubhav Sinha, he had a starring role as one of the three male leads.
In a recent interview, the actor revealed a frightening occurrence in which he was requested to have an affair with someone in order to maintain his position as a public figure and continue to be covered in the media. According to Himanshu, this was the first time he had a clear understanding of the processes that are involved in the film business.
With Navbharat Times, Himanshu disclosed “I got a glimpse of how the industry is soon after Tum Bin and it disturbed me a lot. That was a time when magazines used to be huge. So I got a call from one huge magazine publication, asking me to have an affair. ‘If you have an affair with an upcoming actress, it makes for a good story’, I was told."
He further went on to reveal, “I was shocked to realise such a thing happens. I was told ‘Yes, no one becomes a star without the publicity. We will talk to one or two candidates, they will be as famous as you are. We will even get you a room in Goa. You just go there and we will expose."
Chitrakut, the first feature film that Himanshu directed, was filmed in 2018-2019, and it is scheduled to release in theatres on May 20.
