TMKOC: Disha Vakani Aka Dayaben Will NOT Return To The Show, Producer Asit Modi Confirms

Asit Modi has stated that Disha Vakani would not be joining the show and they will be bringing a fresh face for Dayaben's part.

New Delhi: Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah shared the teaser of the forthcoming episode on social media on Tuesday. Since then there have been various rumours regarding Disha Vakani aka Dayaben's comeback to the show after 5 years. Finally, producer Asit Modi has broken his silence on the continuous speculations of Disha's comeback. He has stated that Disha Vakani would not be joining the show and they will be bringing a fresh face for Dayaben's part. 

While talking to ETimes, Asit stated, "Dayaben, the character, is all set to return, but it's not Disha Vakani. Auditions for Disha's replacement are on and there will be a new actress coming in as Dayaben soon."

Asit continued by explaining that the reason it took so much time to recast the character was due to the fact that Disha did not leave the show entirely. She went on maternity leave and focused on raising her kid instead of working. Asit continued by saying that he had thought Disha would come back, but that his hopes were dashed when the Covid-19 outbreak occurred. Despite the fact that the makers had taken all of the essential safety procedures, the actor was terrified to return to shooting.

On the question of why Disha didn't say anything about leaving the show, the producer responds, "Even now, she has not put in her papers as it's not required in her case. She is like family. She has had a second baby recently and now won't be able to return to the show. "

Asit also informed that the search for a new Dayaben is now in full progress. He also said that the show's new character will be given more screen time.
