Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Producer Confirms Disha Vakani Won’t Return As Dayaben

TMKOC producer Asit Kumarr Modi has confirmed that despite his efforts, Vakani may not rejoin the show.

New Delhi: Producer Asit Kumarr Modi has finally put an end to years of speculation by confirming that Dayaben's (Disha Vakani) comeback to the hit comedy series 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is not happening. Since Disha Vakani went on maternity leave in 2018, viewers have been patiently waiting for her comeback to the program.

Asit Modi recently addressed the persistent rumours about Disha's return in an interview with News18. He said, “It is very important to bring back Dayaben because I also miss her. Sometimes circumstances change in such a way that certain things happen and it gets delayed. Sometimes the story gets prolonged.”

He cited the 2024 elections, the Indian Premier League, and World Cup games as some of the reasons for the postponement of Dayaben's comeback. "There were elections in 2024, there was IPL and then the World Cup matches, the rainy season. It gets delayed because of some reasons," he explained.

Disha Vakani is Focusing on Family

According to Asit Modi, Disha Vakani may not be able to return to the program since she is presently concentrating on raising her two children. “I am still trying. I believe Disha Vakani can’t be back. She has two children. She is like my sister. Even today, we have a very close relationship with her family. My sister Disha Vakani has tied a Rakhi to me. Her father and brother are also a family to me. You worked together for 17 years, and it became your extended family."

'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' is getting ready to introduce a new actress to the role of Dayaben, and Asit Modi has stated that auditions are presently happening for her part.

Asit Modi concluded, "If she comes, then it will be a good thing. If for some reason she does not come, then I will have to bring another Dayaben for the show."
