Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s debut television show 'Fauji,' is returning to the small screen. Originally aired in 1989, the series will re-broadcast on Doordarshan.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s debut television show 'Fauji,' is returning to the small screen. Originally aired in 1989, the series will re-broadcast on Doordarshan, featuring all 13 episodes starting October 24, Thursday. The episodes will be aired from Monday to Thursday on DD National, offering fans a nostalgic opportunity to revisit this iconic show. 

Kanchan Prasad, the Director General of Doordarshan, expressed enthusiasm about the re-airing, stating, “Fauji is a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences. As we look forward to Fauji 2, airing the original series is a perfect way to reconnect with the roots of this iconic show and celebrate its legacy before its next chapter unfolds.”

About Fauji

Directed by Raj Kumar Kapoor, ‘Fauji’ follows the rigorous training of a commando regiment in the Indian Army. This marked Shah Rukh Khan’s television debut, where he portrayed Lt. Abhimanyu Rai. The narrative showcases the journey of fresh recruits as they undergo the challenges of becoming commandos, highlighting their daily trials, the camaraderie among them, the playful pranks they engage in, and the disciplinary actions imposed by their officers. 

The series also featured notable performances from actors such as Rakesh Sharma as Major Vikram 'Vicky' Rai, Amina Shervani as Kiran Kochar, Manjula Avtar as Captain Madhu Rathore, along with Vishwajeet Pradhan, Sanjay Taneja, Vikram Chopra, and Jayshree Arora. Initially, Rakesh was set to be the central character, with SRK anticipated to take on the second lead.

Following his work in 'Fauji,' Shah Rukh Khan went on to star in the TV series “Circus” by Aziz Mirza, and appeared in “Idiot,” “Umeed,” “Wagle Ki Duniya,” and the English-language film “In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones.” His cinematic journey began in 1992 with the blockbuster “Deewana,” alongside Divya Bharti and Rishi Kapoor.

Meanwhile, the sequel to this iconic series was recently announced. 'Fauji 2' will star 'Bigg Boss 17' fame Vicky Jain, playing the role of Colonel Sanjay Singh. This marks Vicky’s acting debut. Actress Gauahar Khan will portray Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur, a cadet trainer specializing in weaponry. Additionally, Ashish Bhardwaj, Utkarsh Kohli, Rudra Soni, Ayaan Manchanda, and Neel Satpura will also appear in important roles.
