Television star Rashami Desai, who has done shows like 'Uttaran', 'Dil Se Dil Tak', recently shared that she once found herself without a home and under a debt of Rs 3.5 crore, leading her to spend four nights sleeping in her car, an Audi A6.

Rashami Desai recalls the time when she was in debt

During a candid conversation on Paras Chhabra's podcast, Rashami hinted that these hardships occurred shortly after her divorce from actor Nandish Sandhu. She explained, "I had bought a house during that time and took a loan of almost Rs 2.5 crore. In total, I was in debt of Rs 3.25-3.5 crore. I thought everything was fine, but then suddenly, my show was shut down."

How she survived

Recalling those difficult days, Rashami shared, "I was on the road for four days, sleeping in my Audi A6. All my belongings were at my manager's house, and I was completely cut off from my family. I survived on Rs 20 meals from rickshaw valas, which came in a plastic bag with daal, chawal, and two rotis. Sometimes, there were small stones in the food, but I ate it anyway."

She laughed about sleeping in her Audi but admitted that those four days were extremely challenging.

Reflecting on her emotional state during that period, Rashami said, "After my divorce, even my friends thought I was difficult because I wasn’t expressive and would go into my shell. My family believed all my decisions were wrong."

How things changed for her

However, her fortunes began to change when she landed a role in the show Dil Se Dil Tak, where she starred alongside Sidharth Shukla.

"I somehow managed to pay off my loan, but I was constantly stressed and couldn't sleep, working continuously. At one point, I thought I would rather die," she shared, emotionally. Rashami credited some of her colleagues and team members for helping her through that tough phase, and she also found solace in yoga.

Rashami had to sell her Audi A6 for Rs 15 lakh to clear her Rs 12 lakh loan. She humorously noted, "After that, I bought an Innova. At least you can sleep in it. The Audi was very uncomfortable to sleep in."

Rashami and Paras were contestants of Bigg Boss 13.
