Tulsi Returns? Ektaa Kapoor Drops Major Hint As 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' Gets Reboot With Political Twist

Everyone remembers Ektaa R Kapoor's iconic TV show 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' — a daily soap opera that turned both Ektaa Kapoor, its creator, and Smriti Irani, its lead actress, into household names. The beloved series is now all set for a much-anticipated reboot. Buzz around the revival has been growing steadily ever since speculation first surfaced some time ago.

'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi reboot

Earlier reports had suggested that the reboot would feature the original cast, including Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay reprising their roles as Tulsi Virani and Mihir Virani. However, a report by Hindustan Times confirmed that the makers are currently in talks with multiple actors for the role of Mihir.

While Ektaa Kapoor and her production house, Balaji Telefilms, have yet to make an official announcement, the producer did confirm the reboot during a recent event. She shared that the new version of the show will run for 150 episodes.

Kapoor also explained the reason behind the 150-episode count, stating that the original TV show's run ended in 2008 just short of completing 2,000 episodes — with exactly 150 episodes left.

“The love we have for this program brought everyone related to it back together to complete just those 150 episodes to reach that 2000-episode mark. This show deserves that,” Ektaa had said.

Adding to the excitement, Ektaa dropped a major hint about Tulsi’s character. She remarked, “We are bringing politics into entertainment, or better, a politician into entertainment.”

Her comment has been widely interpreted as an indirect confirmation that the original Tulsi Virani — now a celebrated politician, Smriti Irani — might return to reprise her iconic role in the reboot.

Hindustan Times also quoted a source close to the development, stating that Amar Upadhyay, Cezanne Khan, and Ronit Roy are still being considered for the pivotal role of Mihir.
