Tamil Superstar Suriya Celebrates 25 Years In The Film Industry
Suriya known for Tamil films such as "Nandha", "Kaakha Kaakha", "Ghajini" and "Singam" trilogy, penned a brief note on Twitter to mark the milestone.
New Delhi: Tamil superstar Suriya completed 25 years in the film industry on Tuesday and celebrated his debut film ‘Nerrukku Ner’ 25th anniversary. Suriya also thanked his fans for their love over the years. It is said that Suriya's first month’s salary was only Rs. 736 and today, he is one of the highest-paid actors in the industry.
Saravanan Sivakumar known by his stage name Suriya began his career in a garments factory. It is said that to avoid charges of nepotism, he did not reveal to his boss that he was the son of actor Sivakumar.
Suriya was offered a role by the director Vasanth in 1995 which he refused but with Mani Ratnam's insistence made his debut in 'Nerukku Ner' at the age of 22.
The superstar, known for Tamil films such as "Nandha", "Kaakha Kaakha", "Ghajini" and "Singam" trilogy, penned a brief note on Twitter to mark the milestone.

In 2015, Suriya released "36 Vayadhinile", the first film from his 2D Entertainment production company. A comedy drama fronted by his frequent co-star and wife Jyothika.
Apart from massy films, he has also starred in critically acclaimed films such as "Soorarai Pottru" (2020) and "Jai Bhim" (2021), the former of which earned him the National Film Award for best actor.
In June, Suriya was among 397 eminent film personalities invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the 95th Academy Awards.
His last two releases were "Vikram" and "Rocketry: The Nambi Effect".
Suriya is currently shooting for Bala's Vanangaan, which he has produced, and Vetrimaaran's "Vaadi Vaasal".
Suriya is married to actress Jyothika whom he dated for many years before getting married in 2006. The couple has two children.
