New Delhi: According to the latest update in the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death, a PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking a status report from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). A report in ANI reads, "PIL filed in Supreme Court seeking direction to CBI to submit a status report in late actor Sushant Singh Rajput death case."
The plea has been moved in the Apex Court by advocate Vineet Dhanda who has urged the court to direct the agency to complete the investigation in 2 months and submit a report. According to a report of IANS, the plea contended that “the top court posed serious faith on the premier investigative agency of the country and directed an investigation into the unnatural death of late actor, as his death shook the entire country and even the fans abroad got a setback due to untimely and unnatural death of Rajput.” “This Court passed an order for CBI enquiry on August 19, 2020 and despite a lapse of almost four months, the CBI is yet to conclude its investigation and all the eager family members, fans, well-wishers of the late actor are yet to get a solace regarding the exact reason of the death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput,” said the plea. The petition further read, “The CBI is not acting responsibly in the present case and there is a delay in the conclusion of the investigation of the case”. The petitioner said “even in serious offences like murder, the law stipulates filing of chargesheets in 90 days but in the present case, the premier investigating agency has failed miserably in their role and the unnecessary delay in the case is bringing bad name to the administration of justice not only in our country but across the globe.” After the death of Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2020, the Mumbai Police was investigating his death case. However, things took a different turn after his father lodged an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother and others for the abetment of his son’s suicide. Soon after, the death case of SSR was transferred to CBI for investigation and as different angles started emerging from the case, ED (Enforcement Directorate) and NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau) also joined the probe. The ‘Kedarnath’ actor was allegedly found hanging in his Bandra apartment. With the investigation of his death case still underway, the real reason for his demise has not been yet declared by the CBI.
