Tollywood sensation Vijay Deverakonda, known for his breakout role in Arjun Reddy and his dynamic presence in films like Geetha Govindam, Dear Comrade, and Liger, turned 36 on Friday. As fans across the globe celebrated his birthday, the makers of his upcoming film, tentatively titled VD14, marked the occasion with the release of the film’s first-look poster — and it has already created a buzz.

'VD14' First Look revealed

Production house Mythri Movie Makers took to social media handles to reveal Vijay’s striking look from the film. The poster features the actor meditating bare-chested in what appears to be a sacred space. Wearing just a dhoti, with his back to the camera, Vijay’s toned body is covered in scars, and his hair is visibly longer — hinting at a completely new avatar for the star.

Sharing the poster, the team wrote: “The GODS gave him STRENGTH. War gave him a PURPOSE.

Set During the British Raj Era

Directed by Rahul Sankrityan, VD14 is believed to be a period drama set against the backdrop of British colonial rule. This marks another collaboration between Vijay and a filmmaker known for stylized, intense storytelling — Rahul previously directed the supernatural thriller Shyam Singha Roy.

Speculation is rife that Rashmika Mandanna — Vijay’s co-star from Geetha Govindam and a fan-favorite pair — is in talks to play the female lead. However, no official confirmation has been made yet.

Naga Vamsi on Vijay Deverakonda

As wishes poured in from across the industry, Kingdom producer Naga Vamsi shared a heartfelt note, calling Vijay one of the most misunderstood people in showbiz.
