'Oo Antava' Copied In Hollywood? Devi Sri Prasad Claims His Chartbuster Was Plagiarised By Turkish Singer

A Turkish pop star is now under the spotlight for its uncanny resemblance to the Samantha Ruth Prabhu-starrer chartbuster 'Oo Antava'.

New Delhi: Music director Devi Sri Prasad, popularly known as DSP, has alleged that his sensational track 'Oo Antava' from the blockbuster Pushpa: The Rise has been copied internationally. Speaking at a recent fan event, DSP claimed that a foreign artist has lifted his composition, hinting at possible legal action to address the alleged plagiarism.

The chartbuster, which featured Samantha Ruth Prabhu in a sizzling avatar and became an instant hit upon its release in 2021, has reportedly resurfaced in a different form abroad. According to DSP, the catchy tune of 'Oo Antava' has now made its way into a Western track, without permission. “You’ve all enjoyed the ‘Oo Antava’ song from Pushpa. I created that song in five minutes while working in my studio. There is no place on this Earth where that song hasn’t been played, and now an English singer has copied the song,” the composer said in Telugu.

Although DSP did not name the artist directly during the event, the internet quickly did its homework. Turkish pop sensation Atiye has come under the spotlight for her 2024 release Anlayana, which bears striking similarities to Oo Antava. Clips of both songs have since gone viral, with fans dissecting the beat structure, melody, and vocal delivery. Several netizens believe Atiye’s track mimics the hook and rhythm of DSP’s original.

The composer didn’t hold back from expressing his mix of frustration and pride. “I’m thinking about filing a case against them. But I’m also proud—this just shows the international appeal of our music,” DSP added, pointing to the increasing global reach of Telugu music.

About 'Oo Antava'

'Oo Antava', sung by Indravathi Chauhan and picturised on Allu Arjun and Samantha, was one of the standout tracks from 'Pushpa: The Rise'. Its infectious beat and sultry visuals catapulted it to global popularity, garnering millions of views and dance covers across platforms.

Whether the plagiarism claim will lead to a courtroom battle remains to be seen, but DSP’s remarks have reignited conversations around intellectual property, creative integrity, and the growing influence of Indian music on the world stage.
