Malayalam Actor Kundara Johny Passes Away At 71

Malayalam Actor Kundara Johny passed away on Tuesday in a local private hospital.

New Delhi: Noted actor Kundara Johny, known for his outstanding portrayals of antagonistic characters in Malayalam films, passed away on Tuesday in a local private hospital, according to sources in the film industry. He was 71.

The FEFKA Directors' Union posted on Facebook that he had a heart attack on Tuesday evening and was taken to the hospital immediately.

As per PTI, Kerala Finance Minister K N Balagopal offered condolences on the actor's death and said that Johny appeared in more than 500 films throughout the course of his more than four-decade career.

After news of the actor's death circulated on social media, condolences flooded the platforms.

Johny, who started acting in 1979, became renowned for playing vile characters in Malayalam films, particularly in the blockbusters 'Kireedam' and 'Chenkol'.

In the Mohanlal-starring film 'Kireedam', Kundara Johny's Parameswaran received overwhelmingly favourable reviews. 'Hello', 'Avan Chandiyude Makan', 'August 15', 'Bharat Chandran IPS', 'Balram vs. Tharadas', 'Thachiledath Chundan', 'Dada Saheb', 'Samantharam', 'Varnappakitt', and 'Sagaram Sakshi' are a few of his other popular movies.

Kundara Johny's final film, 'Meppadiyan', was released in 2022.
