Mahesh Babu Served Legal Notice Over Endorsement Of Real Estate Firm Facing Fraud Allegations

Actor Mahesh Babu has been served legal notices by a Telangana consumer commission for endorsing Sai Surya Developers, now accused in a real estate scam.

Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu has found himself in the midst of legal trouble once again, this time in connection with a real estate project he previously endorsed. The Ranga Reddy District Consumer Commission in Telangana has served notices to the actor following a serious complaint filed by a Hyderabad-based doctor.

Doctor Alleges ₹34.8 Lakh Fraud in Plot Purchase

According to a Deccan Chronicle report, the complainant claims she paid ₹34.8 lakh to Sai Surya Developers for residential plots that were never delivered. She alleges that the actor’s public endorsement of the company played a role in her decision to invest. Mahesh Babu has been listed as the third respondent in the complaint for “promoting the firm and misleading buyers.”

This is not the first time the actor’s name has come up in connection with the company. In April 2025, Mahesh Babu was reportedly questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a related money laundering probe. The investigation also involves the Surana Group and Sai Surya Developers’ owner, Kancharla Satish Chandra Gupta, who is under scrutiny for defaulting on the Green Meadows real estate project.

As per a PTI report, Mahesh Babu was not classified as an accused at the time. "He may have ‘endorsed the realty projects of the accused companies without knowing about the alleged fraud,’" sources were quoted as saying. The actor was allegedly paid ₹5.9 crore for endorsing the Green Meadows project through a mix of cheques and cash.

No Official Response From Actor or Team Yet

Despite the growing attention surrounding the issue, Mahesh Babu and his representatives have yet to release any official statement addressing the complaint or legal notice. The developments have triggered fresh debates around celebrity accountability in product and brand endorsements.

On the Professional Front: SSMB 29 in the Works

On the career front, Mahesh Babu was last seen in the 2023 action-drama 'Guntur Kaaram', directed by Trivikram Srinivas and featuring Prakash Raj, Ramya Krishnan, and Sreeleela. The actor is currently filming for SSMB 29, a highly anticipated jungle adventure directed by SS Rajamouli. The film, co-starring Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is being penned by veteran writer Vijayendra Prasad and is speculated to follow the style of the Indiana Jones franchise.

With legal troubles looming and a major film in production, all eyes are now on how Mahesh Babu will navigate the controversy surrounding his past endorsement.
