Sonu Nigam Accuses BMC Chief Iqbal Singh Chahal's Cousin Of Misbehaviour

“Sonu received correspondence from Iqbal Singh Chahal, requesting him to perform at a concert abroad via his cousin Rajinder," says a source close to the singer.

New Delhi: Padmashri Sonu Nigam is arguably one of the finest singers and performers in the country. His live performances are loved by his legions of fans across the globe and he continues to be one of the most sought after performers in India. This distinction though, does come with its share of instances that would leave a bad taste in anyone’s mouth. 

One such incident that recently came to light was when BMC chief Iqbal Singh Chahal connected Nigam to his cousin, Rajinder. 

 

A source close to Sonu elaborates, “Sonu received correspondence from Iqbal Singh Chahal, requesting him to perform at a concert abroad via his cousin Rajinder. The singer has always worked with an international promoter named Rocky and requested that the query should be taken up with him instead. This exchange did not go down well with Mr. Rajinder who sent derogatory and slanderous messages to Sonu. Some of the things said in the messages are threatening in nature and ones that need to be investigated. The language used by Mr. Rajinder in these messages has been undignified, and came as a shock to Sonuji, who is one of the most respected and loved artists of our country.”

 

Moreover, Sonu also has the audio and the screenshot of Mr. Rajinder’s lewd messages. It has recently come to light that Mr. Rajinder is staying with Iqbal Singh in Mumbai. 

 

The source further adds that Sonu has never responded to these threats even when the said individual has messaged him in the past. “Sonu ji has a lot of respect and admiration for Iqbal Singh Chahal ji and his work for the city of Mumbai especially with the way he has handled the covid crisis. It was due to this that he never took any action all this while but this time things went out of hand. It was evident after the first few exchanges that it was not possible for someone of Sonu’s stature to work with Mr. Rajinder, who is so disgraceful. In fact, singer Palak Muchhal too has been at the receiving end of Mr. Rajinder’s threats. He has in the past sent similar messages to Palak Muchhal’s mother as well. If this was not enough, Sonuji has the testimony of various people who have suffered at the hands of Rajinder, who has been throwing around his cousin Iqbal Chahal ji’s name and blackmailing people. 

 

Sonu ji has decided to address the matter at the earliest so that such issues don’t crop up again.” concludes the source.
