Sonali Bendre Recalls Cancer Journey When She Had Only 30% Chances Of Survival
Sonali Bendre recalled how doctors warned her that her prospects of survival were quite slim at the time.
New Delhi: It's been a hard four years for actress Sonali Bendre. Back in 2018, Sonali was diagnosed with metastatic cancer and she travelled to the United States to get treatment for her illness. An extensive course of medical therapy helped the actress recover and emerge stronger.
According to Sonali's statement in a recent interview with Bollywood Bubble, her prognosis for survival after her cancer was just 30 percent. She said, "It was a shock to all of us. It was totally unexpected. When I went for my treatment, the day doctor tells me that you’ve 30% chance of survival, you are on the 4th stage, and we’ve gone to New York we don’t have an Apartment or anything.. Goldie and me.. only the two of us by the time everybody could be collected or whatever."
In addition to this, she said that she believes it was necessary for her to have that talk, and she went on to say, “Today everyone is talking so casually about it. Four years back, it wasn't like that. So today I accept it was important and glad that I could make that conversation.”
After her own battle with cancer, Sonali Bendre has been an outspoken advocate for the early detection of breast cancer among women.
Sonali Bendre is married to the director Goldie Behl, and the couple has a kid named Ranveer Behl. She has appeared in a number of films in the Bollywood film industry, including Aag, Diljale, Sarfarosh, Hum Saath-Aath Hain, and Lajja amongst others.
In addition, she has served as a judge on a number of TV reality shows, including India's Got Talent, Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz, and India's Best Dramebaaz. Sonali also stepped into the OTT world with the most current season of The Broken News, which aired on ZEE5.
