New Delhi: The Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950, making the country a republic. Ever since then, Republic Day, one of the national festivals of India, is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm across the country.

The COVID-19 pandemic might have led to restricted celebrations but it cannot dampen the patriotic spirit of an Indian. Some of the legendary songs infused with the patriotic fervor help in igniting the fire within, making people reminisce the importance of a free and democratic country.

1. 'Maa Tujhe Salaam'

A R Rahman's iconic song from the 1997 hit album 'Vande Mataram' excels in igniting that patriotic fire within, even after decades of its release. Music maestro Rahman has created ultimate magic with the song, and its popularity bears testimony to the fact. Everytime one hears the song, the love and respect for one's country and motherland is brought to the fore.

2. 'Rang De Basanti'

A perfect amalgamation of a fiesty song infused with the patriotic fervor, 'Rang De Basanti' title track can definitely elevate the Republic Day celebrations. Crooned by popular singer Daler Mehndi and made popular by Aamir Khan's energetic steps and crazy drama, the song is bound to make one fall in love with the rich culture of India.

3. 'Des Rangila'

This song from Aamir Khan and Kajol starrer 'Fanaa', is the perfect song describing India's rich cultural heritage in a beautiful way. Singer Mahalakshmi Iyer has lent her melodious voice to the song and the music has been composed by Jatin-Lalit. The song, shot at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, has the perfect beats to set the listener grooving while being in awe of the country's beauty.

4. 'Aisa Des Hai Mera'

This song from the romantic saga 'Veer-Zaara' takes patriotism to another level, as one appreciates the beauty of the motherland. Sung by Udit Narayan and legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, the song is all about the exemplary beauty of the country and the varied cultures thriving in the nation. 5. 'Ae Watan Watan Mere Aabad Rahe Tu'

The popular song is from Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer 'Raazi' from 2018. The song strikes a chord of patriotism in one's heart with its pulsating lyrics. Penned by veteran lyricist Gulzar and sung beautifully by Arijit Singh, the song is bound to make one emotional.

6. 'Chak De India'

No patriotic day celebration is complete without this fiery song from Shah Rukh Khan's 'Chak De India', sung by Sukhwinder Singh.
