The Great Indian Kapil Show: Chunky Panday Shares He Was Paid to Attend A Funeral, Offered Extra For Crying

Bollywood actor Chunky Panday recently shared a surprising anecdote from his early days in the film industry during his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show.

Bollywood actor Chunky Panday recently shared a surprising anecdote from his early days in the film industry. During his appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, he recounted how, in his initial acting days, he would attend various events for extra income—even once unknowingly landing at a funeral.

When Chunky Panday was paid to attend a funeral

Speaking to Kapil Sharma, Chunky said, "When I was starting off as an actor, attending events was a primary way to earn additional money. I was always prepared with a bag, ready to rush to any event—be it a wedding, birthday, or even a mundan ceremony. One day, I received a call from an event organiser. He asked, ‘What are you doing today?’ I told him I was heading to a shoot at Film City. He then said, ‘Bhai, raaste mein ek chota sa event hai, 10 minute ke liye, aana, paise ache hai.’”

Chunky agreed and was told to wear white clothing. Thinking nothing of it, he complied. “When I reached the venue, I noticed a crowd of people dressed in white, whispering and staring at me. Confused, I walked inside and saw a dead body. It was only then that I realised I was at a funeral!” he said.

Chunky was offered more money for crying

Still baffled, Chunky recalled spotting the organiser. "I called him over, and he assured me, ‘Sir, don’t worry, your packet (of money) is with me.’ But then he added, ‘The family said that if you cry, they’ll pay you extra.’” Reflecting on the incident, Chunky admitted it was an unusual yet memorable experience.

Chunky Pandey was accompanied by Govinda and Shakti Kapoor on the show.

Chunky Panday began his acting career with the 1987 film 'Aag Hi Aag'. Over the years, he has delivered hits like 'Tezaab', 'Aankhen', 'Tirchhi Topiwale', 'De Dana Dan', and the 'Housefull' series, establishing himself as a versatile actor.
