'Incredibly Gripping And At The Same Time Very Bizzare...': Kriti Vij On Her Upcoming Series 'Aakhri Sach'

Kriti Vij is gearing up for the release of her upcoming thriller 'Aakhri Sach' which unwinds the twisted ties of fate, hidden secrets of a family and terrifying horrors an investigator has ever seen.

New Delhi: Kriti Vij who has been previously seen in a couple of comedy sketches and web shows like 'What The Folks', 'Baked', 'Love Travel Repeat' is gearing up for the release of her upcoming thriller 'Aakhri Sach' which unwinds the twisted ties of fate, hidden secrets of a family and terrifying horrors an investigator has ever seen. The series directed by Robbie Grewal stars Sanjiv Chopra, Tamannaah Bhatia and Kriti Vij among others.

In a chat with ABP Live over a video call Kriti Vij spoke about what the series is about, discussed her character and also shared what all can the audience expect from it. Without disclosing too much and keeping the suspense alive, Kriti said that he story is gripping as well as bizzare.

Talking about her character in 'Aakhri Sach', she said, "My character is basically one of the family memebers. Her name is Anshika and she is a complex person which is why I really enjoyed playing this character. She is an ambitious girl and is in that phase of her life where her family wants her to get married. So, there are a lot of rishtas coming in and out and she feels strongly about that subject because she is wanting to find love, but at the same time, is not enjoying this process so much."

"Evenually, she does find somebody who she begins to have lot of fondness for. But, as a family, they have a really big secret. So, the way they sort of balance the secret and having a normal life simultaneously is what this show is all about. It's basically a crime investigation which follows this horrifying case," she further added.

Kriti, being scared of thrillers and mysteries herself said that it was a new genre for her and also jokingly told that she herself is not the correct audience for the show. "I don't like reading thrillers because I am scared of them. But, I felt that shooting for one is not scary. So, I enjoyed it. I will definitely watch my own show, but not beyond that."

Talking about how did she prep for the show she said, "The thing that I learnt early was that I am going to emotionally disconnect myself from the story, since its such a horrifying and bizarre one. It's based on a true event. So, I wanted to dissociate myself from it to be able to block that out and just do my job."

"This family is basically from a part in delhi and I was born in Delhi. So, I had fun shooting back in my hometown. To prep for it, firstly I saw a lot of documentaries or series which are similar to this sort of case. I also read up a little bit about them, but they were all a bit scary so I didn't want to over-indulge. Also, the reading and rehearsals that we had before shoot gave a lot of idea of the rhythm and vibe the director wanted to set for this entire show. So, I think that became quite clear and we just kind of went with the flow," she further added.

Kriti also shared the experience that the audience will have while watching the series.

She said, "I think it's an incredibly gripping story and at the same time very bizzare. It's definitely a story that needs to be told. I do think that the audience would be sitting on the edge of their seats and they will crave for the story to unfold. The pace of the show is excellent. It keeps you engaged throughout."

'Aakhri Sach' is slated to be released on Disney+Hotstar on August 25.
