Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' Debuts On Netflix, But Fails To Surpass Ibrahim-Khushi's 'Nadaaniyan' In Viewership
Kangana Ranaut's latest film, 'Emergency', a biopic on former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has debuted on Netflix, but its viewership numbers have been disappointing.

New Delhi: Featuring Kangana Ranaut, the political drama 'Emergency' debuted on March 14 and quickly rose to number seven on the worldwide list of non-English films. The film is a biography of former Indian prime minister Indira Gandhi. But even with all that, Emergency couldn't compete with the opening week numbers of the newly released 'Nadaaniyan', which beat Emergency despite a bunch of bad reviews and online trolling.
While Kangana Ranaut's directorial 'Emergency' only managed 1.4 million views in its first week, Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor's 'Nadaaniyan', which received a lot of negative feedback online, managed 3.9 million. Mahima Chaudhry, Jugal Hansraj, Sunil Shetty, and Dia Mirza are also part of the romance drama 'Nadaaniyan', which was produced by Karan Johar.
According to IMDb, 'Emergency' has a 5.2/10 rating, whilst Nadaaniyan's rating has dropped to 3.1/10. Despite the negative reviews for both films, ‘Nadaaniyan’ managed to surpass Kangana's political drama, which has generated intense internet debates.
Despite the conflicting reviews, Kangana has been quite vocal in her defence of the film and her role in it. Speaking with India TV, she said, “I want people of the film industry, considering the kind of films that they make, they shouldn’t have any preconceived notion about me. If they don’t talk like, ‘We know what she can do and what her limits are,’ then they don’t have to face so much insult.”
