Honeymoon Photographer Review: Asha Negi's Performance Is The Only Saving Grace Of This Murder Mystery

Honeymoon Photographer might have an interesting title, but it doesn’t live up to its potential. With a predictable plot, lackluster twists, and mediocre production value, it fails to stand out.

The title 'Honeymoon Photographer' sounds intriguing, and the word "honeymoon" naturally piques interest. Streaming on JioCinema, this series is one of many recent additions to the platform's growing content library. While JioCinema has been producing some quality shows, it hasn’t promoted 'Honeymoon Photographer' as much as some of its other content. Perhaps that’s because the series itself is not quite up to the mark. After reading this full review, you can decide whether it's worth your time.

Plot:

The story revolves around Adhir (Sahil Salathia), the son of a wealthy pharmaceutical company owner, who takes photographer Ambika (Asha Negi) along on his honeymoon. He becomes infatuated with Ambika, neglecting his wife Zoya (Apeksha Porwal) in the process. Early in the series, a woman slaps Adhir, blaming his father’s company for the death of someone close to her due to faulty medication. By the end of the first episode, Adhir drowns in the waters of the Maldives. The central mystery of the series revolves around who killed him, but unfortunately, this is where the series falls short.

Series Quality:

The first episode creates some anticipation, suggesting the series might turn out to be decent. The premise seems interesting, but in comparison to other murder mysteries that have been released recently, 'Honeymoon Photographer' feels amateurish. The twists and turns lack impact, and the plot becomes predictable fairly quickly. You can easily guess what’s going to happen next, which dilutes the suspense. Additionally, the production quality feels subpar, making the viewing experience less engaging.

At six episodes, 'Honeymoon Photographer' is something you could watch as a casual time-pass show, perhaps leaving it on while you do other tasks. However, don’t expect it to offer thrilling entertainment or a gripping storyline.

Performances:

Asha Negi, playing the photographer, delivers the best performance in the series. She looks great on screen and portrays her role well, making her character the only true highlight of the show. Apeksha Porwal also does a decent job as Adhir’s wife, while Sahil Salathia performs adequately in the first episode. Beyond these actors, no one else in the cast makes a lasting impression.

Final Verdict:

Honeymoon Photographer might have an interesting title, but it doesn’t live up to its potential. With a predictable plot, lackluster twists, and mediocre production value, it fails to stand out in the crowded murder mystery genre. While the performances of Asha Negi and Apeksha Porwal add some value, they aren't enough to elevate the series. It’s a passable watch if you’re looking for something to have on in the background, but don’t expect to be blown away by it.

Rating: 2/5 stars.
