Ananya Panday on her role in Call Me Bae

Ananya Panday expressed her excitement about the role, saying, "From the moment I heard about 'Call Me Bae', I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Bae is a multi-layered character with a journey that is both compelling and intriguing. Despite the challenges she faces, she stays true to herself, which is what drew me to the role. I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Prime Video and Dharmatic Entertainment, and I can’t wait for audiences worldwide to meet Bae."

Karan Johar, reflecting on the project, said, "While many stories follow the rags-to-riches trope, 'Call Me Bae' offers a fresh twist by reversing this narrative. The series centers on a young woman from a privileged background who must reinvent herself in the bustling city of Mumbai. This modern coming-of-age story, with its playful, comedic edge, will captivate audiences globally."

About the series

Produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, with Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra as executive producers, Call Me Bae is directed by Collin D'Cunha and created by Ishita Moitra, who co-wrote the series with Samina Motlekar and Rohit Nair. The series chronicles the journey of Bella ‘Bae’ Chowdhary as she transitions from a privileged heiress to a determined hustler, offering a lighthearted yet deeply resonant narrative that explores self-discovery and resilience.

'Call Me Bae' will be available to stream on Prime Video in Hindi, with dubs in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada, across more than 240 countries and territories worldwide starting September 6.
