Call Me Bae: Ananya Panday Is All Set For ‘Regular People Struggle’, Karan Johar Teases Her OTT Launch

Ananya Panday and filmmaker Karan Johar are collaborating on a new project, 'Call Me Bae', together once again.

After ‘Gehraiyaan’, actor Ananya Panday and filmmaker Karan Johar are collaborating on a new project together once again. Before releasing the trailer of the show, the actor-director recently gave fans a tongue-in-cheek teaser. 

As the clip begins, Ananya is seen waiting in the studio while Karan approaches her. She reminds him that she made her debut with his film ‘Student of the Year 2’. The actor questions his offer to launch her again. 

Ananya Panday and Karan Johar tease Call Me Bae

Karan says, “Ananya, you live once, die once, marry once but launch can happen many times. Darling, that was Bollywood launch, this is OTT launch.” Later, she asks about her character, Karan points out, “Something new, challenging. Ek aisa role jo tumne life me nahi kiya (A role which you haven't played so far).”

At this point, Ananya wonders if she is playing “a poor-girl from Mirzapur”. Karan clarifies that she will portray a rich-girl from South Delhi. When she reminds him that she has played such characters a few times, he says, “You are a rich girl who loses everything. Viewers get a few scenes from 'Call Me Bae', in which Ananya's character is seen hustling with life in Mumbai alone, are seen before the video ends.

Dharmatic Entertainment, which is backed by Karan, Hiroo Yash Johar, and Apoorva Mehta, is producing 'Call Me Bae'. Colin D'Cunha is the director of the comedy-drama series, which Ishita Moitra created. In addition to Ananya, the series features Vir Das, Gurfateh Pirzada, Varun Sood, Vihaan Samat, Muskkaan Jaferi, Niharika Lyra Dutt, Lisa Mishra, and Mini Mathur in pivotal roles.

'Call Me Bae' will start streaming on Prime Video from September 6.
