Vidya Balan's recent triumph with 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' has ignited interest in the future of the franchise. However, the actress notably chose not to participate in the second film, 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2'. In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Vidya shared her reasons for stepping away from the sequel.
Vidya Balan on not doing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
“I was very clear why I didn’t want to do it. I think I was just scared that I might squander away all that I had earned from that film,” Vidya admitted. Her apprehension was tied to the potential risks of revisiting her iconic role from the original 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa'.
She added, “When I watched that film, I realised, ‘Oh, that’s how franchises work’. It took the franchise forward without being a continuity of the first previous one. When I told Bhushan that I had loved the (BB2) trailer he told me that I’ll have to be a part of the next film, and that’s where all of this started.”

When asked about the possibility of a reunion in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 4' featuring Tabu from 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2', Madhuri Dixit, and herself, Vidya enthusiastically responded, “Yes, of course, more the merrier.”
Currently, the team is enjoying the success of 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3'. Director Anees Bazmee and the producers are expected to take their time before considering the next installment.
As Vidya humorously noted, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is doing so well, we want it to keep going… We are not going to think about it (BB4) till then. It is fresh, it is new, and it is exciting… Anees bhai will also want to do something else before he thinks about another Bhool Bhulaiyaa.”
'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' was released in theaters on November 1, during Diwali, and has grossed over Rs 300 crore at the worldwide box office, making it the highest-grossing film in the franchise.
