Sushant Singh Rajput Case: Will SC Allow CBI Probe? Verdict On Rhea Chakraborty's Plea Today

The Supreme Court will pronounce the judgement on Rhea Chakraborty's plea seeking transfer of the Patna FIR to Mumbai in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput's death on Wednesday.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court will pronounce the verdict on a petition filed by Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty seeking transfer of the case filed against her in Patna to Mumbai in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput’s case on Wednesday (August 19). Justice Hrishikesh Roy will pronounce the judgement at 11 a.m. This will be the fourth hearing in the case. The Bihar government and the ‘Dil Bechara’ actor’s father KKK Singh have opposed the transfer petition filed by Chakraborty. The concerned parties had presented their written submissions before the apex court in the third hearing on August 13. The ‘Jalebi’ actress moved the top court and filed a plea seeking the transfer of the case from Patna to Mumbai. She challenged the jurisdiction of the Bihar Police in the matter in her written submission and told SC that the Patna FIR could at best be regarded as a zero FIR. She also insisted that the ‘Pavitra Rishta’ actor’s father has made baseless allegations against her. Earlier today, Rhea’s lawyer issued a statement and said that Sushant’s sister tried to molest the ‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’ actress after getting drunk. She alleged that the incident created a rift between the two siblings. Rhea Chakraborty Shares Statement Questioning "Illegal Investigation of Bihar Police, Reiterates 'No Problem If SC Transfers Case To CBI' “That due to the aforesaid incident, the relationship between Sushant's family and Rhea had been strained since inception. Even after his death when a list of 20 people was made to attend the funeral, Rhea's name was not included in the list and hence excluded from attending the funeral,” Rhea’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde said in a statement to IANS. Last month, KK Singh registered a complaint against Rhea Chakraborty, her parents and brother Showik Chakraborty and others under various sections of the IPC including abetment to suicide. In his six-page FIR, Sushant’s dad accused Rhea of threatening his son and blackmailing him to reveal his medical reports to the media. He also alleged that the ‘Chehre’ actress kept Sushant away from his family and used him to further her career in the film industry. Mr Singh also mentioned in his FIR that Rs 15 crores were transferred from Sushant’s bank account to other accounts, which were not related to the ‘Pavitra Rishta’ actor. Sushant was found hanging at his apartment in Mumbai on June 14. His untimely demise left his family, friends and fans in a state of shock. The ‘Kai Po Che’ actor’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti urged for an early decision in her brother’s case. She tweeted, "Requesting for an early decision from the Supreme Court, we have been very hopeful and have been patiently waiting. Every minute of delay is causing pain and heartbreak. #CBIForSSR."
Shweta has been quite vocal in demanding a CBI investigation in SSR’s death case. Several Bollywood celebs including Kriti Sanon, Varun Dhawan and Parineeti Chopra have also demanded a CBI probe into the matter.
