Slapstick comedy is the toughest genre: Akshay Kumar
New Delhi: Bollywood star Akshay Kumar says slapstick comedy might be looked down upon by people, but he believes it is the toughest genre to work in.
Akshay, known for his impeccable comic timing both on and off screen, says he holds stand-up comedians in high esteem.
"Slapstick is also a genre and it is the hardest. I have high regards for stand-up comedians and people who do comedy.
"I feel they are best actors like Mr Bean, Charlie Chaplin. I request not to look down upon slapstick. I hope the opinion or view towards slapstick films (will change)," Akshay told reporters here at the promotional event of "Housefull 3".
The 48-year-old actor feels enacting comedy is tougher than action.
"While doing action you do get hurt, but when you do comedy and people don't like it they throw stones, so that hurts more. In that case, the actor, producer, unit and everyone gets hurt."
Akshay, who is sharing screen space with Chunkey Pandey in th upcoming comedy, reveals he is a huge fan of the actor.
"I am a huge fan of Chunkey Pandey. He was my senior when I used to learn comedy. I used to be Chunkey's fan... (But) I think he lost the plot later," Akshay said in a lighter vein.
"Housefull 3", also starring Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon and Nargis Fakhri in lead roles, is releasing tomorrow.
