Malayalam Actor P. Balachandran Passes Away At 69

New Delhi: Known for his work in the Malayalam cinema, P. Balachandran passed away earlier this morning (April 5, 2021), reportedly. Other than being an actor, Balachandran was also a director, writer and playwright.

1989. Balachandran breathed his last at his residence in Vaikom, Kerala. The ‘One’ actor was born on February 2, 1952, and is best known for the play ‘Paavam Usman’ for which Balachandran received the ‘Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award’ and ‘Kerala Professional Nataka Award’ in the year 1989.

Balachandran made his acting debut in the 1982 biographical film ‘Gandhi’, which is based on the life of Mahatma Gandhi. He then starred in several other movies including ‘Trivandrum Lodge’, ‘Eeda’, ‘Hello Namasthe’, ‘Charlie’, ‘Law Point’ and many more.

Balchandran started his career as a script-writer in the year 1991 with the movie ‘Uncle Bun’. He has scripted other movies including ‘Ulladakkam’, ‘Pavithram’, ‘Agnidevan’, ‘Punaradhivasam’ and ‘Kammatti Paadam’.

He made his directorial debut in the year 2012 with the movie ‘Ivan Megharoopan’. His last screen appearance was in the 2021 Malayalam political thriller 'One' where he portrayed the role of Attingal Madhusoodanan, MLA Opposition. 'One' stars Mammootty in the lead role. It also stars Murali Gopy, Joju George, Siddique, Mathew Thomas, Ishaani Krishna, Gayatri Arun and Nimisha Sajayan.

Balachandran is survived by his wife Sreelatha and two children Sreekanth and Parvathy.
