Kartik Aaryan LAUDS Deepika Padukone For Visiting JNU, Says 'Strict Actions Are Needed'

Kartik Aaryan appreciated Deepika Padukone for extending support to the students and also condemned the violence at JNU.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone visited Jawaharlal Nehru University on Tuesday (January 7) to express solidarity with the students, who were attacked by a mob on January 5. DP, who is gearing up for the release of ‘Chhapaak’, received praises from celebs like Anurag Kashyap and Pooja Bhatt for extending support to the students and teachers. Kartik Aaryan, who was last seen in ‘Pati Patni Aur Woh’, also lauded Deepika for visiting the JNU campus. The ‘Luka Chuppi’ actor, while talking to an entertainment portal, condemned the violence and said the citizens need to come about out and talk about it. “Of course, I respect what Deepika did yesterday and I hope a lot of people would stand up and a lot of citizens should come ahead and talk about it. Strict actions are needed. The way these things are happening, this is not our country, these things should not happen here. I really hope strict actions are taken,” the actor told Bollywood Hungama.

Ahead of Chhapaak’s release, several hashtags like #ISupportDeepika, #BoycottChhapaak trended on Twitter. Several tinsel town celebs including Sonakshi Sinha and Dia Mirza appreciated Deepika Padukone for extending support to the students. "No matter which political party you support,do u support violence?Don't visuals of bleeding students and teachers shake you up?We can't sit on the fence any longer.Kudos to @deepikapadukone for showing up,& all those who spoke for speaking up.This is not the time to stay quiet," Sonakshi Sinha tweeted.
