Gadar 2 Box Office Collection: Sunny Deol Starrer Crosses Lifetime Business Of Dangal After A Record Second Weekend

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 is unstoppable at the box office even in its second week. The film collected Rs 13.50 crore on Monday, bringing the total to Rs 388.60 crore.

New Delhi: Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer Gadar 2 is unstoppable at the box office even in its second week. The film collected Rs 13.50 crore on Monday, bringing the total to Rs 388.60 crore at the domestic box office. The film has surpassed Aamir Khan starrer Danga’s lifetime collection of Rs 377 crore, becoming the fourth highest-grossing Hindi film. 

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to update about the box office numbers of the film, directed by Anil Sharma. He wrote, "CROSSES ‘DANGAL’, NEXT ‘KGF 2’… #Gadar2 remains an UNSTOPPABLE FORCE, refuses to slow down on [second] Mon… Crosses *lifetime biz* of #Dangal… Is now FOURTH HIGHEST GROSSING #Hindi film in #India… [Week 2] Fri 20.50 cr, Sat 31.07 cr, Sun 38.90 cr, Mon 13.50 cr. Total: ₹ 388.60 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice."

 

Earlier over the weekend, 'Gadar 2' had created a record by becoming the highest-grosser Hindi film in the second weekend of its release. The Sunny Deol starter collected Rs 90.47 crore over the second weekend which is the highest, followed by Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan which had earned Rs 63.50 crore in its second weekend.

 

Talking about the huge success of the film Sunny told Variety, "We make films for the people and that’s where we need to connect. The beauty is that we connected and they’ve connected. The last I saw this kind of celebration happening was when ‘Gadar’ released and the people were enjoying and celebrating it. And after that, one is getting to see all this. I’m just on top of the world and feeling so happy.”

The film is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. In ‘Gadar 2’, Deol's Tara Singh returns to Pakistan to rescue his imprisoned son Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh (played by Utkarsh Sharma) during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The first film was set during the Partition.
