FWICE Demands Diljit Dosanjh Be Dropped From Border 2 Over Working With Hania Aamir In Sardaar Ji 3
FWICE has opposed Diljit Dosanjh’s role in Border 2, slamming the makers for casting him despite his collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3.

The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has raised strong objections to the inclusion of actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh in the star cast of 'Border 2', directed by Anurag Singh. The sequel to J.P. Dutta’s iconic 1997 war drama features Varun Dhawan, Sunny Deol, Ahan Shetty, and Diljit in key roles.
Backed by Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar of T-Series, in association with JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta’s JP Films, 'Border 2' is scheduled for a theatrical release on January 23, 2026.
FWICE disappointed by casting of Diljit Dosanjh in Border 2
However, FWICE has voiced serious concerns in an official letter addressed to Bhushan Kumar, JP Dutta, Nidhi Dutta, and director Anurag Singh. “The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), representing the core workforce of the Indian film and television industry, is deeply disappointed and concerned by the casting of actor-singer Mr Diljit Dosanjh in your upcoming film Border 2 produced under the banner of JP Films in collaboration with T-Series and directed by Mr Anurag Singh," the letter stated.
Calling the decision a “blatant violation” of its earlier directive, FWICE pointed to Dosanjh’s recent collaboration with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in Sardaar Ji 3. The federation had previously issued a boycott of Diljit for what they termed an "unpatriotic act."
“By choosing to collaborate with an artist who has so brazenly ignored the ongoing tensions and national sentiment, your production has directly undermined the stand taken by the Indian film industry in solidarity with the nation,” the letter added.
FWICE's stand on casting of Pakistani celebs
FWICE has repeatedly reiterated its zero-tolerance stance toward professional partnerships with Pakistani nationals in entertainment, given the volatile cross-border situation.
“FWICE has time and again made its position clear--we will not accept or tolerate any cooperation or collaboration with Pakistani artists in any form or on any platform. Such actions are a disservice to the sacrifices made by our armed forces and citizens who continue to face the consequences of cross-border hostilities and terrorism,” the letter further read.
The organisation took particular exception to Dosanjh being cast in a film that aims to pay tribute to the Indian armed forces.
“This not only defeats the spirit of the film but also sends a disheartening message to every Indian,” FWICE wrote. “It is disturbing that a film like 'Border 2', which is supposed to honor the valor and sacrifice of Indian soldiers, has engaged an individual who has recently chosen to prioritize personal gain over national respect by associating with talent from a hostile nation.”
FWICE urged the producers to reconsider their decision, concluding the letter with a direct appeal for patriotism and solidarity.
“We hereby request you to immediately reconsider your casting decision. FWICE urges you to stand by the nation and the industry's collective stand. Let us reiterate--for us, the nation comes first, and we expect the same unwavering commitment from every respected member of the film fraternity.”
Sardaar Ji 3 controversy
Just days earlier, on June 23, FWICE had publicly condemned Diljit Dosanjh, along with Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu, and director Amar Hundal, for bringing Hania Aamir on board Sardaar Ji 3. In a follow-up letter to top government officials—including the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Ministers of External Affairs and Information & Broadcasting—FWICE called for immediate punitive action.
FWICE has also requested the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to withhold certification for Sardaar Ji 3 due to the presence of a Pakistani actor in the cast.
The controversy has gained further momentum in the wake of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and the subsequent Operation Sindoor conducted by Indian forces in Pakistan and PoK on May 7. Following these events, many Pakistani celebrities, including Hania Aamir, have seen their social media access restricted in India.
Amidst this political storm, Diljit Dosanjh released the trailer of Sardaar Ji 3 on his Instagram, announcing that the film would release exclusively in international markets on June 27.
